Two weeks ago, at the “Ban the Wall” Protest in Bloomington, many of you placed your names on an email list for further news about how we can Resist, Inform, and Mobilize. Now we’re reaching out to you. We want to invite you to our first meeting of Chain for Hope.
Our goal is to resist the onslaught of administrative and legislative actions against (but not limited to) reproductive rights, income inequality, immigration rights, redistricting, environmental and criminal justice, health care and education reform. The more participants we have, the more we grow, the more we can do.
The focus of our first meeting is to set up a Congressional Legislative Action Committee, which will cultivate regular contact with our state and national political representatives through targeted letter-writing and phone calls, personal office visits with staffers, and vocal presence at town halls. We want to study upcoming legislation and take part in coordinated, timely and strategic campaigns to influence our legislators. We’ll be organizing the many volunteer roles needed to put an effective and powerful process into place for the long term.
Please join us on Saturday, February 18, 2-4 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library Room 1B. Your attendance will be greatly appreciated.
